There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual – become clairvoyant. We reach then into reality. Such are the moments of our greatest happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom. It is the nature of all people to have these experiences; but in our time and under the conditions of our lives, it is only a rare few who are able to continue in the experience and find expression for it.

Creations

I feel like a kid playing in the mud, digging out rocks to see the creatures beneath and imprints left behind.  This series features the child creator within me.

The surface is primed, layered with thick paint, sometimes panels are added to create planes much like the strata of rock that have evolved throughout time.

With this landscape in front of me I dig into the depths of paint.  What I unearth is a new reality of organic complexities.  The deeper I dig into the piece, the more I sense the forms, shadows, negative, and positive spaces framing new figures, species, creatures, once buried in the paint, my imagination, or both.

Once completed, the evolution of these creatures makes perfect, elegant sense.
